Hospital Indemnity is an insurance that pays a fixed amount per day of hospitalization, helping with costs that the health plan does not cover.
Hospital Indemnity Insurance (or hospital insurance) is a complementary coverage that guarantees direct payment to the insured whenever there is a hospital admission covered by the policy.
Unlike traditional health insurance, it doesn’t reimburse specific expenses or pay hospitals directly. Instead, you receive a cash amount that you can use however you want — without any red tape.
How does it work?
Whether due to an accident, surgery, childbirth or illness, when you are admitted to hospital, you receive a fixed amount or a daily amount, depending on the plan you have contracted.
This amount can be used to cover medical expenses not included in the main plan, pay day-to-day bills such as rent, transportation and food, cover co-participation, deductibles, medicines or exams and financially support the family during the recovery period.
Additional coverages that may be included:
Daily rates for ICU admission
Childbirth and pregnancy complications
Outpatient surgeries
Emergency care
Transport by ambulance
